A day after a raid by JAIS on a Methodist church in Damansara Utama, a few leading malay newspapers had Nur’s plight as their frontpage news.
Since it happened in Selangor, Abdul Khalid Ibrahim as the Menteri Besar of the state was reported to have issued a gag order to all his Exco members. MCA and of course the Opposition parties were outraged by the raid.
After all it was just buka puasa in a CHURCH attended by 12 Muslims amongst others…..
There’s no sense in blaming the Christian missionary workers. They surely would grab any opportunities when available, to bring people into their faith. It’s their mission! If I had the opportunity to make a Christian submit unto the aqidah of Islam, I would surely do so too!
Hermen Shastri of the Council of Churches Malaysia even threw a challenge at two Malay dailies. If it’s legal to convert Muslims Malay into their faith, I think Hermen will the first to do so! – Artikel 4, Enakmen Agama Bukan Islam (Kawalan Pengembangan di Kalangan Orang Islam ) Selangor 1988
I remember my years in Penang when a student of Penang Free School told me he got a copy of the bible, in Bahasa Malaysia, sent to him by post, all the way from the US of A! I’m sure people who frequent hotels have found copies of the bible in their rooms.
I also had the chance to meet inmates of the Penang State Prison while I was staying in Penang but I only could go visit them once a month. Christian mission workers with their guitar and goodies visit EVERY WEEK!
As they also took to task, visiting patients in hospital whose family have abandoned them. Bringing along some crackers, Milo and all sorts of goodies to comfort the lonely patients.
I myself had the opportunity of looking through the bible in Malay Pattani language whilst I was doing business in Yala, Southern Thailand two decades back. In fact my neighbour was an English couple, with a lovely daughter who chose to rent a house in the Muslim majority part of the town.
Muslims should point fingers inwards instead of outwards. Christian missionary would continue to bring back the lost ‘sheep’ of Israel as well as the lost ‘kambing’ of other races back to their Lord! It’s their mission. What’s the use of blaming the mosquito for biting you?
The question we as Muslims should be asking ourselves….are we doing enough to help our Muslim brethren?
The Holy Prophet (pbuh) was reported to have said, “He is not a true Believer who eats his fill while his neighbour is hungry.” (Bayhaqi.)
Nur from Seremban said she went to the appropriate to seek help but was treated like a begger.
Since we as Muslims have continue to neglect the teachings of the Holy Qur’an and following the Sunnah of the Holy Prophet (pbuh) calamities upon calamities have struck us.
The appropriate authorities should take action, I fully agree, if evidence were found that the said church in Damansara Utama were found to be proselytizing Muslims but by just making noises wouldn’t stop the Christian missionary workers continuing doing their work!
A friend who’s village was in the rural part of Sabah told me how Christian mission workers came to his village. The mission worker spoke of how he had came in the name of Jesus to save the villagers. The mission worker was eloquent in my friend’s mother tongue. The first missionary worker failed to convince the village folk but the TENTH missionary worker succeeded!
