Marhaban Ya Ramadhan

Malaysians are expected to start fasting this Sunday. The blessed month is upon us again. I fear that the month will come and go as before without us gaining any benefit from it.

We should be HAPPY with the coming of Ramadhan and SAD with it’s departure. The Companions of the Holy Prophet rejoice at the coming of Ramadhan and wept when it was over.

The ultimate aim of Ramadhan is to attain TAQWA. After years and years of fasting, have anyone of us actually achieve it? I’m sure that someone did, but alas I still haven’t!

It’s sad to think that to certain people Ramadhan is just an excuse to celebrate HARI RAYA. To them, they can’t wait for the blessed month to end, so that they can celebrate HARI RAYA.

Don’t get me wrong, we are expected to celebrate HARI RAYA. I celebrate it too!

And don’t forget about the countdowns. People counting how many more days to HARI RAYA, how many more rakaahs to finish Tarawih prayers.

Anyway, let’s us all try to rejoice at the coming of Ramadhan.
