WORDS OF WISDOM
28/09/2006
Let us try to be among those people who seek knowledge because it is God’s orders and to practise such knowledge as a means of devotion and to be close to Him. By doing so, we hope to gain God’s acceptance and be safe from humiliation on this earth and in the Hereafter.
The knowledge to be used to develop the economy, the military, agriculture, buildings, schools, offices, roads and others in order to protect their faith, to strengthen the Shariah (rules of Allah), to aggrandize the symbols (shi’ar) as well as to glorify His commands. Hence, we would be among those people, in using the knowledge for development and progress and at the same time, very critical towards the Shariah (rules of Allah),very careful concerning the permissible and the prohibitions while upholding the Islamic disciplines. All the efforts and progress achieved are also considered as acts of devotion and good deeds towards Allah Taala. The efforts are regarded as the struggle in the way of Allah (jihad fi sabilillah) and are given good rewards by Allah, the Benevolent. We hope to be one of those people of knowledge who fear and love Allah and considered as those with taqwa.
In seeking and acquiring knowledge, Muslims should seek knowledge because of Allah Taala, otherwise, everything would be in vain. Even if there are gains for this world, it will nevertheless constitutes a loss in the Hereafter because Hell is the only consequence, God forbids.

Kata Mursyidku

BULAN RAMADHAN BULAN PESTA IBADAH

Marhaban Ya Ramadhan
Posted by PakNik on September 22, 2006
Malaysians are expected to start fasting this Sunday. The blessed month is upon us again. I fear that the month will come and go as before without us gaining any benefit from it.
We should be HAPPY with the coming of Ramadhan and SAD with it’s departure. The Companions of the Holy Prophet rejoice at the coming of Ramadhan and wept when it was over.
The ultimate aim of Ramadhan is to attain TAQWA. After years and years of fasting, have anyone of us actually achieve it? I’m sure that someone did, but alas I still haven’t!
It’s sad to think that to certain people Ramadhan is just an excuse to celebrate HARI RAYA. To them, they can’t wait for the blessed month to end, so that they can celebrate HARI RAYA.
Don’t get me wrong, we are expected to celebrate HARI RAYA. I celebrate it too!
And don’t forget about the countdowns. People counting how many more days to HARI RAYA, how many more rakaahs to finish Tarawih prayers.
Anyway, let’s us all try to rejoice at the coming of Ramadhan.

How Should We Act
Posted by PakNik on September 18, 2006
As Muslims who understand the struggles in Islam, there are many enemies to be faced, amongst them are our own nafs, the syaitan, the munafiks, the non-believers, the Jews and the Christians.
Another group who are against Islam are those named as Orientalists i.e. those who are specialist in Islam and very knowledgeble about people from the East. They are mainly Christians, some of them are Jews and some of them are free thinkers i.e. those who do not follow any religious rules.
These Orientalists seek indepth study of Islam, not for the sake of becoming a Muslim as they don’t have the interest to become one , but they learn Islam for comparison with other religions and ideologies. They learn about Islam with the intention to destroy the Islamic teachings itself. They would change the facts, they would put in additional facts and they would purposely add and delete factual informations just for the sake of deviating and confusing the Muslims who are ignorant of Islam and also to prevent others from becoming Muslims.
The main target for confusion are the Muslims with are trained and educated in the west and ignorant about Islam. With these efforts, many of the intellectuals among the Muslims with Western education have been influenced. Many of these people are those with power and status in their own country in the fields of politics economy and education.
When we hear of any remarks against Islam by the so called Orientalists, we should look back at ourselves and the way to react to such things should be our heart and with proper guidance from Allah, our beloved Prophet PBUH and our Mursyid, spiritual teacher. We should not respond to them with anger and emotions which could be demeaning to ourselves and Islam.
God has promised help to those with taqwa and our mission should be towards correcting ourselves and get ourselves closer to God, love and fear only Him.InsyaAllah His help will be on the way and we leave the enemies of Islam to God Himself.

Benedict
Posted by PakNik on September 18, 2006
Bloomberg reported that the 79 year old Pope Benedict began his address in Regensburg by quoting from a 14th-century dialogue between the Byzantine emperor Manuel II Paleologus and an educated Persian. Then he said that it doesn’t represent his views. If it doesn’t represent your view, then why start your speech with it unless you’re trying to make a statement, since you wrote the piece yourself!
It’s unfortunate that after Benedict infered that Islam is “evil and inhuman“, five churches in Palestine and one in Iraq were torched. That action is contrary to Islamic teaching since even in a war, Muslim armies are forbidden among other things to destroy places of worships!
Let us flashback at past comments of Christian leaders on the Holy Prophet (pbuh):
Jerry Vines, the former president of Southern Baptist Convention, the nation’s largest Protestant denomination with 15 million members, described the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) as a “demon-possessed pedophile.”
Televangelist Jimmy Swaggard referred to the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) as a “sex deviant”, “pervert” and “pedophile”.
Franklin Graham appeared on the NBC Nightly News, commenting on Islam he said: “we are not attacking Islam but Islam has attacked us. The God of Islam is not the same God. He is not the son of God of the Christians or Judeo-Christian faith. It is a different God, and I believe Islam is a very evil and wicked religion.”
Baptist Minister Jerry Falwell, during an interview conducted by CBS’s “60 Minutes”, told journalist Bob Simon he thought the Prophet Muhammad was “a terrorist.”
The Rev. Franklin Graham, Billy Graham’s son and successor, called Islam a “very evil and wicked religion.” Christian Coalition founder and television evangelist Pat Robertson called the prophet Muhammad “an absolute wild-eyed fanatic . . . a robber and brigand . . . a killer.”
As one writer in UK Telegraph suggested in addition to dishing out criticism, they must learn how to take it, are the above said criticism good for a healthy dialogue between Muslims and Christians.

Mr APPLE is Half-Arab!
Posted by PakNik on September 13, 2006
I’ve long been a fan of Steve Jobs. Whatmore I have been using Apple Macintoshes since the 90s. What Jobs and the “Woz” did in Jobs’ parents garage in the early days have turned into a very profitable business. Not a few people have predicted the demise of Apple but as the Apple Store in 5th Avenue stands majestically, Apple will survive.
Something unknown before TO MYSELF about Jobs is that his biological father was Abdul Fattah Jandali, a Syrian political science professor, who had immigrated to the US in 1952 at the age of 21. According to Abokareem who commented on this Arab-American blogger (http://www.360east.com/?p=221), his father was from Homs, Syria.
He also has a sister, Mona Simpson, who is a successful writer.
The sad part is his biological mom and dad had to give him up for adoption since both of them were in grad school then, and couldn’t afford to support him.

IN SEARCH FOR GOD THROUGH HIS CREATIONS (Part 1)
None of God’s creations go to waste. Everything has a reason, everything has its usefulness, everything has its purpose. Leaving up to all human beings to search for its reasons, usefulness and its wisdom
God laid down the earth and created everything in it not simply for human beings to live, reproduce and making use of all the wealth He provides. What’s important is for us to witness and observe physically His creations. These are the vital and solid proof of His existence and one of the reasons as well, why God created the universe.
Human beings are capable of looking at not only the world of syahadah or physical world but various other worlds as well. World is an indication or signs of God’s existence. Everything that God creates is considered as world or alam, anything besides God is world or alam. There are only two existence either God, the Creator or His creations (alam/world). The world exists indicating there is God,the Creator.
Majority of human beings simply look but not really seeing anything. Even though they manage to look at pysical things, they are not able to relate the world with God. Their sight could access only the first level. They are not able to to see or understand the wisdom of God’s creations. Their views are somehow overshadowed or restricted, like a beautiful painting, they are engrossed and overwhelmingly praising its beauty and wanting to be its owner but it did not cross their mind to find out who’s the painter.
Another similar situation when one is served with good and tasty meal, one feels like eating up the whole serving and it did not cross the mind who’s the person capable of cooking the delicious meal.
Human beings, in actual fact are able to see things through:
1. With the normal eye sight
2. With the ‘eyes’ of the mind – intellectual mind
3. With the ‘eyes’ of the heart or soul – spiritual mind
to be continued
